Modern Fantasy

D'Lacey, C. (2001). The Fire Within. New York: Orchard Books.

Do you believe in dragons? In this modern fantasy book, also part of a series, we get to know David. David is a college student who moves into a house owned by Liz and her daughter, Lucy. David is a writer and his dragon stories create a story-within-a-story atmosphere. This book is a great way to introduce creative writing or myths. It is perfect for middle school students and is recommended for grades five through eight.
